Welcome once again. Straight into the action as per usual this week... Bottom-of-the-ladder Peel have been dealt an 80-point thrashing by reigning premiers East Fremantle in front of a poor crowd in Mandurah. The Sharks set the pace from start to finish, kicking 8 goals in the final term to boost their own percentage and sink Peel further into disgrace. Youngster Dale Baynes kicked 4 goals. Baynes was amongst the best on the day, which included mainstays Wayne Roser and Earl Spalding.
South Fremantle has continued its unbeaten run, and ended West Perth's, with a hard-fought 38-point victory at Arena Joondalup. West Perth were restricted to 4 goals for the match as they paid for their innacuracy, having more scoring shots overall than the Bulldogs. At three quarter time, the margin was only 5 points in favour of Souths, but they kicked 7 goals to 1 in the last quarter to seal the match. P Maher was amongst the stand-out players for West Perth, the Docker on the comeback from a knee reconstruction.
And Swan Districts has scored a comfortable 5-goal victory over struggling East Perth, although the Royals mounted a late charge, kicking 5 goals to 3 in the last term. It was not enough, however, as Swans won the match easily. Their chance of making the finals is an extremely slim one, but it most unlikely. However, that will not stop them trying. WA's victorious under-18s captain, Brett Johnson, led the way in the decisive win for Swans with some ferocious roving.
Over at Claremont Oval was a see-sawing match, that saw Subiaco start in front, only to be overrun by Claremont. Subi came back at the end, but finished 17 points short in front of 1500 people. The young Eagles did well for the Tigers, with David Antonowicz snaring 5 goals, well aided by Jaxon Crabb, Michael Gardiner, Callum Chambers and Andrew Williams.
Seeya next week,
Dan.
