Clarence's midfield dominated the game, with Gavin Cooney, Craig Millar and Jarrod Read ruling the roost. On the forward line Peter Ricci kicked 9 goals in another sterling performance. A blue broke out in the third quarter which resulted in Craig Carter being reported for striking Roo captain Gavin Cooney. The backline was made of cement with Davey, McCallum, Winter, Probert and Ransley steadfast. Brett Geappen showed the AFL scouts that he was worthy of an AFL career and Charles Beaumont put in another grand performance growing in stature with every week. For the Magpies Ben Atkin was kept unusually quiet by his tagger in Todd Anderson. David Kamaric would get the votes for best on field restricting Scott Allen to just one goal, Matthew Ball did a great job through the midfield it was each player playing for himself and not a team effort in the end. **************************************************************************** TEAMS NORTHERN BOMBERS Backs: Clark, Whitehead, O'Keefe Half Backs: Faull, Muir, Headland Centre: Mansell, Howard, Wager Half Forwards: Cottam, Chugg, O'Neill Forwards: Praciak, Aherne, J.French Followers: McLean, Curtis, Bolton Interchange: Gissell, Walker, Deverall IN: Whitehead - returning from injury Aherne - returning from injury Walker Deverall OUT: Todman - omitted S.French - omitted Mathews - omitted HOBART DEMONS Backs: Mills, Splann, Curtain Half Backs: Egan, Jurd, Hall Centre: Williams, James, Bracken Half Forward: Trevena, M.Brereton, Hawkins Forward: Woods, Robinson, Devine Followers: Rigby, J.Brereton, Veitch Interchange: Carver, Dickson, Hill IN: Carver Curtain Egan OUT: Best - calf injury Ackerley - state under 18 squad Boucher - omitted **************************************************************************** RESULTS NORTHERN BOMBERS 20.17.137 defeated HOBART DEMONS 6.9.45 BEST NORTHERN BOMBERS Praciak, Chugg, Wager, J.French, Faull, Bolton HOBART DEMONS Williams, Woods, Veitch, Curtain GOALS NORTHERN BOMBERS J.French 4, Chugg 3, Praciak 3, Bolton 3, Cottam 2, Aherne, Curtis, Mansell, Walker, Muir HOBART DEMONS Bozicevic, M.Brereton, Robinson, Hall, J.Brereton, Hawkins INJURIES NORTHERN BOMBERS nil HOBART DEMONS Trevena - ankle Rigby - cut head REPORTS nil ROUND UP BOMBERS DEMOLISH DEMONS ON THEIR WAY TO MEET ROOS The Northern Bombers gave the Hobart Demons a flogging this week in what was a big percentage loss for the Demons. The backline of the Northern Bombers proved to be the most crucial of the day, they rebounded many attack by the Demons forwards but were able to get the ball back to their onballers and convert every time. Shane Wager and Doug Headland were unstoppable in the back line. Adam Aherne dominated Matthew Brereton in the ruck, and Jason French again converted 4 first half goals. Nick Faull held goalsneak Robert Devine to just two kicks for the day and Brendon Bolton was great around the ground. For the Demons their best was Brent Williams and Steven Woods wasn't far behind him, other than that the Demons had no outstanding players to speak of. The win should make the game between the Bombers and the Roos the best game of the season next week. **************************************************************************** TEAMS DEVONPORT Backs: Flannery, McPherson, Master Half Backs: Lovatt, Richardson, Taylor Centre: Duggan, Astell, Woodcock Half Forward: Holland, Langmaid, Wilkinson Forwards: Lowe, S.Smith, A.Smith Followers: Scolyer, Bowman, Johnson Interchange: Cools, Wells, Glover IN: Wells OUT: McIvor - injured BURNIE DOCKERS Backs: Brown, Dell, M.Bourn Half Backs: Hoare, Wooldridge, Heath Centre: Wilson, Harnett, Matheson Half Forwards: Stretton, Williams, Bester Forwards: Jones, Hering, Barnes Followers: Davis, Butler, E.Bourn Interchange: Ling, Harrison, Luke IN: Dell Butler - returning from club suspension Ling - returning from club suspension M.Bourn - returning from concussion OUT: Aitken - state under 18 squad Archer - neck injury Nash - back injury Gounas - thigh injury **************************************************************************** RESULTS BURNIE DOCKERS 23.14.152 defeated DEVONPORT POWER 6.4.40 BEST BURNIE DOCKERS Davis, Ling, Jones, Matheson, Hering, Harnett DEVONPORT POWER Richardson, Flannery, Lowe, Holland, Scolyer, Langmaid GOALS BURNIE DOCKERS Butler 3, Williams 3, Wilson 2, E.Bourn 2, Davis 2, Barnes 2, Bester, Matheson, Jones, Luke, Harnett, Wooldridge, Stretton, Hering, Ling DEVONPORT POWER Langmaid 3, Flannery, Cook, Astell INJURIES BURNIE DOCKERS Williams - thigh DEVONPORT POWER Taylor - hand REPORTS BURNIE DOCKERS Williams reported for striking Astell set penalty 1 week suspension DEVONPORT POWER Wells reported for charging Davis and abusing an umpire unknown result. ROUND UP BURNIE TURN THE LIGHTS OUT ON THE POWER A ruthless Burnie Dockers side laid the Devonport Power team to rest this week in a mauling win of 112 points. Devonport kicked the first goal of the game but Burnie turned it on and booted 12 of their own before half time. Grant Williams was on fire early for the Dockers booting 3 goals. Ruckman Brad Davis was well on top in the ruck, and every other player could've been added to the best players list, in particular Scott Matheson and Andrew Hering who just put the Devonport side under a lot of pressure, finding the best list for the Power is hard, but Richardson and Flannery were the best of a flat bunch. **************************************************************************** NEXT WEEK: CLARENCE v NORTHERN BOMBERS (Bellerive) DEVONPORT v BURNIE DOCKERS (Devonport) GLENORCHY v HOBART DEMONS (KGV) **************************************************************************** LADDER NORTHERN BOMBERS 44 CLARENCE 36 BURNIE 24 HOBART DEMONS 24 GLENORCHY 12 DEVONPORT 0 **************************************************************************** LEADING GOAL KICKERS ALLEN (Clarence) 44 DEVINE (Demons) 38 CHUGG (Bombers) 27 WILLIAMS (Burnie) 22 COTTAM (Bombers) 20 RICCI (Clarence) 19 TAYLOR (Bombers) 17 HARNETT (Dockers) 16 ATKIN (Glenorchy) 16 C.RYAN (Glenorchy) 16 AHERNE (Bombers) 14 **************************************************************************** Under 21's NORTHERN BOMBERS 26.12.168 defeated HOBART DEMONS 4.4.28 CLARENCE 21.14.140 defeated GLENORCHY 4.5.29 BURNIE DOCKERS 20.8.168 defeated DEVONPORT POWER 8.8.56 **************************************************************************** Under 18's CLARENCE (A) 7.7.49 defeated GLENORCHY (A) 3.2.20 DEVONPORT POWER (A) 9.9.63 defeated BURNIE DOCKERS (B) 4.6.30 BURNIE DOCKERS 6.5.41 defeated CLARENCE (B) 4.5.29 NORTHERN BOMBERS (A) 11.8.74 defeated HOBART DEMONS (A) 7.5.47 NORTHERN BOMBERS (B) 10.10.70 defeated HOBART DEMONS (B) 1.8.14 **************************************************************************** OTHER LEAGUE RESULTS SFL HUONVILLE LIONS 13.12.90 defeated KINGSTON 9.3.57 CLAREMONT 12.8.80 defeated LAUDERDALE 11.7.73 HOBART 16.9.105 defeated CYGNET 11.9.75 BRIGHTON 22.17.149 defeated CHANNEL 0.5.5 NEW NORFOLK 25.16.166 defeated LINDISFARNE 3.7.25 KERMANDIE 29.6.180 defeated SORELL 15.2.92 PENINSULA EAGLEHAWK NECK 10.17.137 defeated PREMAYDENA 2.9.21 PORT ARTHUR 11.9.75 defeated NUBEENA 10.6.66 ODFA BOTHWELL 11.7.73 defeated OATLANDS 6.11.47 Mt PLEASANT 16.7.103 defeated WOODSDALE 10.13.73 KEMPTON 42.22.274 defeated TUNNACK 1.2.8 TASMAN SWANSEA 21.11.131 defeated RICHMOND 9.11.65 TRIABUNNA 30.21.201 defeated CAMBRIDGE 8.8.56 NTFL LATROBE 17.14.116 defeated WYNYARD 12.8.80 ULVERSTONE 21.13.139 defeated SMITHTON 9.13.67 DELORAINE 10.17.77 defeated SOUTH LAUNCESTON 10.5.65 LAUNCESTON 16.16.112 defeated EAST DEVONPORT 10.8.68 **************************************************************************** FINAL SIREN Till next Week, get out there and support your club and the league, lets get some butts on seats this year and let the doubters know, that Tasmanian Football is still alive!!! **************************************************************************** |
