week as I spent the week-end on the turps down at Coffs Harbour.
It wasn't a bad effort either as we started at 6:00pm on Saturday
night and rolled back to the unit just after 4:30am …. (was
I crook or what?) …. However, while out we ran into a group
of local young fellas in their Swan-like jumpers and decked out
with medallions as they had won the local grand final earlier.
Needless to say the party certainly kicked on with these blokes
around!
This Saturday night
I'll be at the Gabba for the Lions-Carlton semi, so I'll also
be seeing the Southport-Eagles major semi, so next week I'll
be able to give you a full account and reports as per usual.
Other News
It has been confirmed
that the major semi-final to be played between Southport and
the Eagles will now in fact be played as the curtain-raiser to
the Brisbane Lions v Carlton final at the Gabba on Saturday night,
and commencing at 4:30pm. It is uncertain though, whether the
Lion Cubs finals match will be played prior to this.
Next Week
This'll certainly be
short and sweet this week …. The Sharkies should roll the
Eagles but not easily, the Eagles being the only side to give
Southport a decent run to date. This will put the Sharks into
their third straight decider should they win. The knockout semi-final
will be an interseting tussle with the Cubs and Vultures playing
completely different styles of footy. I'd find it hard to go
past Mounties though …. They'll be pissed at their dismal
performance against the Eagles last week and will be hungry for
another crack at them.
AFL Footypix Tipping Competition
Well its history now,
but I wasn't able to bridge a five-point gap in the final round
…. David Chadwick cleaning up in the Footypix for 1999 on
122 points, leaving me second on 119 (spewin'!) Dave should be
congratulated on his effort this year as he led the competition
outright for 17 of the 22 weeks, including picking 8/8 on three
occasions …. so a worthy winner I'm sure you'll agree!
