Comments

In their return to Unley Oval Sturt scored a hard fought win over a determined Panther outfit.  Despite the persistant rain over 5000 people (a sell out due to much of Unley Oval being fenced off to the public) turned out to celebrate the return of the Blues to Unley.  In weather unsuited for big men it was the Sturt ruckman Simon Feast whose 18 posessions, 8 marks and 19 hitouts which won the game. South had a lot of the ball but lost the game due to inexperience and poor decision making.

After two losses Norwood finally found form and defeted Glenelg by 20 points.  In the wet conditions it was Glenelg who started strongly and should have gone to an early lead but missed several oportunities to goal.  These misses enabled Norwood to regrouped and get to within 2 points at the first break.  Glenelg then lapsed in the second quarter and allowed Norwood to kick 4.2 to 1.2.  The last half was fairly even but Glenelg never really looked like getting back into the game.

The first quarter at at Clare Oval was a fairly even between North and the Eagles.  For the next 3 quarters though the Eagles took complete control and kicked 15.14 to the Roosters 2.8.  While being undermanned (5 key position players were out due to injury), North coach Chris McDermott blasted his players after the match stating they were non competitive and trying to win off of the oppositions mistakes rather than going in and winning the hard ball.
