At Glenelg Oval, the Blues started the game well kicking 3.6 goals while keeping the Bays to only 2 points. Glenelg then started to slowly get back into the game and at the 27 minute mark of the final term hit the lead. A mistake by Glenelg's Jon Copping, where he kicked into the man on the mark, though led to a turn over and subsequent goal to enable Sturt to run out winners by 5 points.
After starting the season well with 4 straight wins, the Bloods have come back to earth with there 3rd straight loss this time against North. The Roosters had most use of the ball and their midfield dominated. It was only the Roosters lack of a good forward that kept the winning margin from being higher. After the match an angry Taylor (West's coach) stated that the game was "the biggest disappointement so far this year" and is ready to make some changes at the club. BTW For those that asked last week, this is the first time Sturt has been on top since 1983.
At Elizabeth Oval, Norwood scored their 3rd successive win in 3 years against the Bulldogs. Norwood had most use of the ball in the first quarter but failed to capitalise on the scoreboard. The coach must have said something to the Doggies at quarter time as they then came out and kicked 5.1 to Norwoods 2.3 and went into the main break with a handy lead. In the second half Norwood dominated and ended up winning by 18 points.
At Noarlunga, neither team was able to dominate in their forward lines but both sides kept persisting and in the end it was the Eagles who managed to take home the points. Despite losing Applegarth (South's coach), was pleased with his teams persistance and never say die attitude, while Mickan (West's coach) put the win down to his players persistance and risk taking.
