Comments
At Alberton Oval, Glenelg started
well kicking the first goal of the game and kept with Port for
the first 2 quarters. After half time though the Maggies moved
up a gear and kicked away from the Tigers and ran out winners
by 41 points. The rumours of the "great one" Scott
Hodges wanting to retire were put to rest as he played his first
game back from injury in the reserves on the weekend and kicked
2 goals.
A poor first quarter from Centrals
cost them the game at Richmond Oval, despite kicking with a strong
wind Centrals were kept to 1 goal for the quarter. The Bloods
then showed Centrals how to use the wind by booting 6 goals in
the 2nd term. After the main break Centrals were fired up and
drew level with the Bloods before Westies steadied and then ran
away with the game in the final quarter.
Sturt started the game against
North strongly and kicked 4.5 before the Roosters scored. The
Blues controlled most of the game and seemed set to score a big
win but the Roosters came back in the final quarter and were
within 4 points before a late goal by Sturt sealed the game.
In wet and slippery conditions
Norwood scored a 25 point victory over the Eagles in Saturday
nights AFL curtain raiser. The first term was very lack lustre
with neither team able to get the advantage. Eagles were kept
goaless in the second term and after the 1st quarter Norwood
never looked threatened and ran out easy winners.
