Comments
After a good win against the
Eagles the previous week, Tiger supporters thought they could
at least put in a good performance if not win against Sturt.
How wrong they were with the Double Blues dominating the game
and running out winners by 67 points. Sturt had control
from the first bounce and never looked threatened. Glenelg
on the otherhand made numerous skill errors and seemed to lose
desire when put under pressure.
At Woodville Oval the Eagles
after kicking 1.2 then kicked an amazing 14 goals without a miss
to ran out winners by 2 points over South. The win was
setup by Matthew Kluzek with 7 goals and Robert Pyman 5 goals.
The Eagles didn't have it all their own way though with South's
Ryan Fitzgerald kicking 7 goals (5 in the 3rd quarter).
At the final break the Panthers were 16 points in front but couldn't
hold off a strong finishing Eagles outfit who made good use of
the wind in the final quarter.
After a even first half between
West and North at Richmond Oval the Bloods dominated the last
half. Despite kicking against a strong wind they outplayed
North in the 3rd term kicking 8 goals to 3 and then kept the
Roosters goalless in the final term. West were inspired by Crows
player Tyson Edwards and with 9 goals to full forward Adam Richardson
ran out easy winners by 79 points.
The final match of the round
was played on Sunday in wet and muddy conditions at Norwood Oval
between Centrals and Norwood.
The Doggies started the game well and did most of the attacking
but failed to capitalise on the scoreboard. This allowed
Norwood to slowly start to get back into the game. At the
final break Norwood led by 5 points and early in the final term
Centrals kicked a goal to take back the lead. Norwood though
fought back and while not kicking any majors managed three behinds
for the quarter to end up winning by 2 points.
