Comments
With a top three position at
stake, the match between Norwood and West was shaping up to be
a thriller but it turned out to be a one sided affair.
Norwood dominated for most of the day with West rarely threatening
Norwood. The Bloods badly missed full forward Adam Richardson
(the SANFL leading goal kicker) who left the ground in the 1st
quarter with a corked thigh and until he returned late in the
game the Bloods didn't have a focal point up forward.
The Panthers are still in the
hunt for a finals position with a big win over North. The
win by South though was hampered by injuries to captain Andrew
Osborn (ankle), forward Ryan Fitzgerald (shoulder) and centre-man
David Morgan (hamstring).
Central scored a big 55 point
win over an undermanned Glenelg side. Glenelg went into
the game without 5 key players due to injury or AFL duty and
for the first half managed to stay with Centrals. In the
second half though Centrals outplayed the Tigers kicking 9.7
goals to 2.4 to run out easy winners.
In the upset of the round the
7th placed Eagles ran out easy winners over Port at Alberton
Oval. The Eagles midfield outplayed Port to setup countless
thrusts into their forward line and the Eagles tackling and pressure
rattled the Port players. After the match an angry
Stephen Williams Port coach stated "I thought they (Port)
were soft at the ball. We played like an undisciplined
young rabble."
