You would have been forgiven for thinking Clarence had forgotten how to play
football up until half time of this game, last week they were caught napping
against the Demons, this week snoring against the Dockers. The Dockers were
on fire and raced to a 43 point break at half time. Clarence's midfield was
being crushed by the likes of Hoare and Coulson, along with Wright and
Butler. The usual running Roos were on standstill. Supporters were expecting
more of the same after the half time break. In come the Joeys!! The youth of
the Clarence football club stood tall with new recruit Charles Beaumont
taking Davis on in the middle, and winning his fair share of the ball, and
with the running power of Craig Millar who was exceptional, who even managed
to bob up with 3 pretty impressive goals. Scott Allen was moved to the
forward line along with Jones who up until the were being blanketed by the
Dockers midfield runners. Allen ended up with 5 goals. The Geappen boys,
Matthew and Brett, and Cameron Thurley lifted their work rate, and overcame
their opponents to take the Roos to within 3 points at the last change. The
Dockers tried to keep up the pace but looked completely worn out. The Roos
ended up 26 point victors. Davis was fantastic for the Dockers and was
backed up by Coulson and Hoare but in the end, the younger legs won it.

REPORTS: nil
The joy of beating Clarence two weeks ago was short lived when the Demons
went down to the Bombers this week. They were brought back to earth in a
hurry being beaten by 84 points. Both sides had a lot of the ball through
their midfield, but the classy Bombers unit, used their opportunities much
better kicking a massive 21 goals for the game. Nathan Howard continued to
pressure his opponents and was best on ground. Marcus Todman was impassable
in the backline. Anthony Taylor was impressive in the forward line kicking 3
goals as did Brad Cottam. For the Demons, Garry Splann and Andrew Cox, were
doing their best in the backline and proved very hard to get passed. while
Marc Hill was great off the wing, providing great drive. Both Coach's
Stevenson and Trevena were both solid contributors.
GLENORCHY 28.19.187 defeated
DEVONPORT 11.8.74

DEVONPORT: Langmaid, Lowe, Duggan, Flannery, Scolyer
GOALS: T.Green 4, Kamaric 4, Foale 3, Glenn 3, P.Ryan 2, S.Stevenson 2,
Atkin 2, C.Ryan 2, Britten, Careless, T.Stevenson, N.Green, Curran, Cornish
INJURIES: Astell (Devonport) - corked thigh
S.Smith (Devonport) - groin
A third quarter goal blitz saw the Magpies overcome the Power by 113 points
this week, although the scoreline didn't really show the hard fought out
game. The Devonport Power were well and truly in it in the first half. Until
the Magpies piled on 8 goals in the third quarter. Todd Stevenson and
brother Shayne were the Magpies two main contributors, breaking through the
packs in the middle and forcing the Pies forward, especially in the vital
third quarter. Matthew Langmaid was dominating in the ruck for the Power and
received a best on ground for his performance. Lowe, Duggan and Flannery
were also great support to him, showing the Magpies that the Power still
have what it takes in the intensive part of the game, in the end the
disciplines of the two teams were what put the Magpies in front, their kicks
were to the targets and each kick was made to count. The Power was shut off
then, with kicks going astray and shots for goals missing. The clash between
the Magpies and Clarence now the main focus for next round. Should be a
pearler.
