ROUND UP
Any clash involving Clarence and Glenorchy is bound to be a beauty, high
skill levels, class, luck, and some fiery play. Supporters were not
disappointed. It was classed as game of the round and it lived up to all
expectations. The Roos won out eventual winners by 31 points. The Clarence
players were fired up from the start, they led by 31 into the first break
and showed the life that they seemed to be missing the last few weeks. Craig
Millar was brilliant in the midfield, showing he has made the step up to the
Senior level, and thrashed his opponent. Goal sneak Justin Westbury who was
brought into the side to replace injured Roo John Cullen booted 6 goals
while Scott Allen kicked 4. They were set up in the midfield by Rookie
Charles Beaumont, he dominated the ruck and his attack at the ball was
amazing. Nick Green, Ben Reid and Allan Chandler were tireless workers in
the Magpies backline and in the second quarter their midfield got the better
of Clarence's and they got within 8 points at the main change. The lowlight
of the second quarter was the melee involving over half of the players and
which resulted in four players facing a total of five charges at the
tribunal. Atkin and Ryan for Glenorchy and Cooney and McCallum for Clarence
faced striking charges and numerous other players were warned. The Magpies
midfield was completely shut down in the third quarter when Magpies Captain
Shayne Stevenson left the ground for the bench with a strained quadricep.
Todd Anderson stopped Ben Atkin and also gathered plenty of possessions
himself. Jarrod Read returning from an ankle injury was at times at his
best. But again the younger Roos: the Geappen brothers, Thurley, Millar,
Westbury and Beaumont were totally dominant.... The Roos will take on the
Demons in the next round and the Magpies will face the Bombers in the game
of the round.

ROUND UP
If you could nominate a piece of play which turned a game around it would be
Grant Williams kicking 4 of his 5 goals in the second quarter. The Dockers
made the most of their lead and ran out 42 point victors against the Hobart
Demons. Brad Davis was the most dominant player on the ground, leading the
way in the ruck and setting up play along the forward line. Brett Wilson and
Marcus Bourn were also of great importance to the delivery of the ball. For
the Hobart Demons, Devine was a master around the ground and was by far the
best of the Demons, and was well supported by James and best. Butler and
Harnett dominated the midfield particularly in the second half turning the
game for the Dockers. They piled on 5 last quarter goals to seal a very
important victory.... The Dockers will take on Devonport in the next round
and the Demons will take on Clarence in an important clash

ROUND UP
The Bombers blasted their way to an easy victory against the Devonport Power
in the slippery conditions beating them by 120 points. Adam Aherne booted 5
goals for the game and he was helped by Taylor who booted 4. Brendon Bolton
was magnificent in the midfield, handling the ball as if he had glue on his
hands in the wet conditions. Marcus Todman, Richard Deverall and Chris Jones
were all performing well in their positions. They managed to boot 7 of their
goals in the first quarter and it was downhill from there for the Power.
Andrew Johnson proved a valuable player in midfield for the Power, and
dominated his opponent, as one of the only Power players to outplay their
rivals. Devonport managed to rack up as many possessions as the Bombers but
their disposal was poor and their kicking for goal was a little offline with
a few of their big forwards missing from the weeks lineup. The Power will
come up against a firing Burnie in the next Round and the Bombers will be
looking to make it 2 from 2 against the defending premiers Glenorchy
