Then Bombers scored 7 last quarter goals to down Glenorchy by 48 points in the game of the round. Dale O'Neill led the bombers charge, for a man who was playing centre half forward, he did not kick a goal himself for the day but was crucial in setting up almost every other goal the Bombers scored. Dale Chugg through the middle was also in great form. Marcus Todman was of value and Andrew McLean had a ripper of a last quarter, completely dominating the ruckwork. For the Magpies, reigning William Leitch Medallist Ben Atkin was at his very best, his determination and hardness at the ball kept the Magpies in the game, along with Craig Carter who was also dominant. John Cornish did a fine job for the Magpies in tagging Bomber danger man Brendon Bolton. Next Week the Bombers take on the Power and Glenorchy face the Hobart Demons. **************************************************************************** TEAMS CLARENCE Backs: Jamieson, Winter, McCallum Half Backs: Burnett, Davey, Davis Centre: Thurley, Nichols, Read Half Forwards: Leitch, Beechey, B.Geappen Forwards: Allen, Stirling, Cooney Followers: Beaumont, Jones, M.Geappen Interchange: Ransley, T.Whitelaw, Anderson IN: Read - returning from an ankle injury Ransley - returning from a knee reconstruction T.Whitelaw OUT: Hulm - bruised elbow J.Westbury - omitted Youd - omitted HOBART DEMONS Backs: Hutt, Splann, Bailey Half Backs: Veitch, Jurd, Cox Centre: Hawkins, M.Brereton, Woods Half Forward: Hall, Bracken, James Forward: Devine, Robinson, Williams Followers: Best, J.Brereton, N.Scott Interchange: Hill, Boucher, S.Gargan IN: S.Gargan OUT: Ackerley - Tassie Mariner duty **************************************************************************** RESULTS CLARENCE 18.18.126 defeated HOBART DEMONS 9.10.64 BEST CLARENCE: Anderson, B.Geappen, Winter, Jones, Cooney, Beaumont, M.Geappen HOBART DEMONS: Veitch, Splann, M.Brereton, Hall, Hawkins, James GOALS CLARENCE: Allen 3, Cooney 3, Winter 2, Thurley 2, Read, B.Geappen, Jamieson, Jones, Nichols, Ransley, Davis, Leitch HOBART DEMONS: Devine 3, Bracken 2, James, Woods, Scott, M.Brereton INJURIES CLARENCE: nil HOBART DEMONS: Hutt - knee injury REPORTS nil ROUND UP BABY ROOS SHOW LAST QUARTER SPIRIT The junior Roos of the Clarence Football club stood tall yesterday in a game that was decided in the last quarter. The Roos ran out eventual winners by 62 points but there was only 14 points in it at 3/4 time. It started in the middle with Todd Anderson who tagged the Demon himself Jeremy Brereton, while gathering up possessions, and the 'new boy' Brett Geappen who through the midfield was unstoppable by more than one opponent. Darren Winter and Matthew Brereton went at each other all day with Winter taking the points for the day. Allen was ever dangerous around goal booting 3 along with Gavin Cooney and numerous others chipping in. Charles Beaumont dominated the ruck for the day and the backline was solid in defense with Davey and McCallum hard at it. For the Demons, Aaron Veitch was best on field at half back, he did his darndest to stop the forward flow of the Roos but in the final quarter that job seemed pointless. Robert Devine was his usual live wire self booting 3 goals, Garry Splann was sensational and damaging in the last line of defense for the Demons and Ken Hall was good, although not as consistent as the Demons would have liked. The Demons will take on Glenorchy next week and the Roos will face the wrath of Burnie. **************************************************************************** NEXT WEEK: CLARENCE V BURNIE DOCKERS at West Park GLENORCHY V HOBART DEMONS at KGV NORTHERN BOMBERS v DEVONPORT at York Park **************************************************************************** LADDER NORTHERN BOMBERS 28 CLARENCE 24 BURNIE 16 GLENORCHY 12 HOBART DEMONS 12 DEVONPORT 0 **************************************************************************** LEADING GOAL KICKERS ALLEN (Clarence) 30 DEVINE (Demons) 20 CHUGG (Bombers) 17 WILLIAMS (Burnie) 16 TAYLOR (Bombers) 15 C.RYAN (Glenorchy) 14 COTTAM (Bombers) 13 AHERNE (Bombers) 12 HARNETT (Dockers) 12 ATKIN (Glenorchy) 11 KAMARIC (Glenorchy) 11 WOODS (Demons) 11 **************************************************************************** Under 21's NORTHERN BOMBERS 19.12.126 defeated GLENORCHY 10.10.70 CLARENCE 13.14.92 defeated HOBART DEMONS 4.9.33 LADDER: NORTHERN BOMBERS 32 CLARENCE 24 BURNIE DOCKERS 12 GLENORCHY 12 HOBART DEMONS 8 DEVONPORT 4 **************************************************************************** Under 18's CLARENCE (B) 12.11.83 defeated HOBART DEMONS (B) 5.5.35 NORTHERN BOMBERS (A) 5.4.34 defeated GLENORCHY (A) 3.8.26 BURNIE DOCKERS (A) 10.7.67 defeated NORTHERN BOMBERS 9.5.59 CLARENCE (A) 13.14.92 defeated HOBART DEMONS (A) 4.3.27 DEVONPORT POWER 8.7.55 defeated BURNIE DOCKERS (B) 5.6.36 **************************************************************************** OTHER LEAGUE RESULTS SFL HOBART 18.18.126 defeated LAUDERDALE 7.5.47 NEW NORFOLK 21.16.142 defeated CHANNEL 11.4.70 CYGNET 10.11.71 defeated KINGSTON 7.7.49 KERMANDIE 13.9.87 defeated HUONVILLE LIONS 9.8.62 CLAREMONT 28.23.191 defeated LINDISFARNE 10.9.69 SORELL 11.10.76 defeated BRIGHTON 7.8.50 PENINSULA NUBEENA 28.20.189 defeated PREMAYDENA 1.6.12 EAGLEHAWK NECK 8.8.56 defeated PORT ARTHUR 7.9.51 ODFA WOODSDALE 20.10.130 defeated BOTHWELL 12.8.80 OATLANDS 12.16.88 defeated KEMPTON 11.11.77 MT PLEASANT 40.24.264 defeated TUNNACK 2.0.12 TASMAN RICHMOND 14.14.98 defeated SWANSEA 10.10.70 TRIABUNNA 47.20.302 defeated CAMBRIDGE 6.3.39 NTFL SMITHTON 13.12.90 defeated LAUNCESTON 11.13.79 SOUTH LAUNCESTON 25.16.166 defeated EAST DEVONPORT 9.8.62 DELORAINE 19.11.125 defeated PENGUIN 6.11.47 ULVERSTONE 10.16.76 defeated LATROBE 6.6.42 **************************************************************************** FINAL SIREN Till next Week, get out there and support your club and the league, lets get some butts on seats this year and let the doubters know, that Tasmanian Football is still alive!!! **************************************************************************** |
