Sometimes a round is split over two weekends or over a mid-week
game and a weekend (eg Anzac Day).
The following instructions refer to the 'first weekend' and 'second'
weekend but are equally valid for a mid-week game. If you are 'splitting'
the Anzac Day round then treat the mid-week game as the 'first'
weekend and the rest of the round as the second 'weekend'.
You have a choice of how to handle the split:
1. Don't allow changes to the 'split'
State that tips for ALL the games must be in prior to the first
weekend and that no alterations will be allowed for the second weekend.
This is the easiest, as you simply close/cut-off the round as normal
prior to the first weekend and then score it after the second weekend.
2. Do allow changes to the 'split'
You can allow your tippers to change their tips for the second
part of the split round by following the steps below depending on
the edition of the Footy Tipping software you have:
Single PC Edition
If your Single PC Edition is used only by the Organiser (i.e. He/she
is putting everyone's tips for them) then there is nothing really
to do. Simply enter the tips when you have received them all for
the whole of the split round then score the competition as normal.
If your Single PC Edition is used by tippers as well as the organiser
then follow the procedure for the Network Edition (see below).
Network
Edition
To cater for split rounds, all tippers must tip the whole round
before the first weekend of games is played.
Instead of closing the round on this first weekend, the organiser
must lock the games of the first weekend.
This will allow tippers to change their tips for the second weekend
of games but not the first weekend.
The round is then closed at the usual time prior to the second
weekend and scored after all the games have been played.
NB If a tipper has forgotten to tip for the first
weekend then he will not be able to tip the second weekend in isolation.
The organiser must do this and must input a full round of tips -
if default tips are away games this should not be a problem, but
if default tips are (eg) the lowest score in the round then the
organiser must decide appropriate tips for the first weekend's games.
Web Edition
To cater for split rounds, all tippers must tip the whole round
before the first weekend of games is played.
Instead of closing the round as normal after the cut-off time has
passed, the organiser should lock the games
of the first weekend and then amend
the cut-off time to the usual time prior to the second weekend
of the split.
This will allow tippers to change their tips for the second weekend
of games but not the first weekend.
The round is then closed and scored as normal during/after the
second weekend.
NB If a tipper has forgotten to tip for the first
weekend then he will not be able to tip the second weekend in isolation.
The organiser must do this in the main desktop program and must
input a full round of tips - if default tips are away games this
should not be a problem, but if default tips are (eg) the lowest
score in the round then the organiser must decide appropriate tips
for the first weekend's games.
Locking Games
The organiser can lock individual games of a round by following
these steps
- Click the 'Close Round' button on the tool bar
- Click the 'Lock Games in Round X' button
- Change the games you want to lock to 'Yes' by clicking on the
'Locked' column.
NB: If you are using a winning margin as a tie-breaker
then the tippers' predicted margins will be locked as soon as the
margin game is locked.
If you are running a Knock Out competition then tippers' KO selections
will be locked as soon as any game in the round is locked.
