What
is an Email Merge?
An email merge works in a similar fashion to the mail merges available
from many word processing programs. There are three main ingredients
to an email merge:
- Database or source file - with contact & other information.
- Message - which may include inserted fields from the source file.
- An email manager to link the source file and message, and to carry out mailings.
WorldMerge
If you'd like to send your tippers pesonalised emails containing
their details then we recommend using a third party product called
WorldMerge.
WorldMerge could also be used for things other than just the tipping competition. For instance at Footy Tipping Software we use it to send personalised emails to all our customers.
We have added some information into the footy database specifically meant for use with WorldMerge. You will be able to send each of your tippers an personalised email with their details eg
"Dear
John,
Round 9 has just been completed. You scored 6 in this round, bringing
your total score to 37 and placing you in 14th position on the ladder.
Etc, etc
."
You can also attach files to the emails, for example you might attach a text file version of your competition ladder.
You can also send reminder emails just to tippers who haven't yet put in tips for the upcoming round.
WorldMerge
is available as 'Trialware' so that you can use it for free. In
'Trialware' mode it adds the following lines to the bottom of each
email
"This message was sent using WorldMerge, the fastest and easiest
way to send personalized e-mail messages to your customers, subscribers,
leads or friends. For more information, visit
"
If you register and pay for WorldMerge (current price is US$59) then this message is no longer added to you emails.
